Let’s talk kids health

We are over halfway now into the school year, so, it’s a great time to talk about spinal health, good posture and the importance of nutrition and hydration!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

As you know, proper nutrition and hydration are very important for a child’s development. By introducing healthy eating and water intake habits early, they will continue with the same habit even when they become adults.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Good spinal health is crucial for your child’s development. This is because the spine protects the nervous system. Any injury to it can disrupt the normal functioning of the child’s body. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

To help, we’ve developed these top 5 tips for great spinal health:

1.Avoid carrying a heavy school bag

A heavy school bag can overload the growing spine of a child resulting in headaches and even muscle strain. Make sure their school bag is made of light materials and they carry it on both shoulders – padded shoulder straps that are adjustable and a waist strap will also help ease the load.

2.Focus on great nutrition

Make sure your kids eat a well-balanced diet that gives them the fuel from proteins, carbohydrates, fruit and vegetables. they need to get through the day, not only during school but if they play sport too.

By developing a healthy eating habit early, they will continue with the same habit even when they become adults.

3.Hydration is a must

Water is also very important for children. Active children need more water for hydration and proper absorption of food.

4.Encourage playtime!

In today’s world of fitness, more and more children are encouraged to play in their school and at home. Majority of sports are good and provide a way for children to socialise and exercise.

5.Minimise time on electronic devices

Ensure your kids don’t spend a lot of time with their iPads, phones, and computers. Kids who spend a lot of time on their electronic devices may develop a “tech neck” because of constantly peering down at their gadgets -which is now becoming a common health issue.
